Game Review: BoomShine
BoomShine is a free game for the N97. It’s ported to the S60v5 platform by Jamie Fuller, based on an original game by Danny Miller.
Features
When the user taps the touch screen and selects a circle, that circle starts to expand, and when its border touches on the border of another circle, that one also starts to expand and so on. The objective of the game is to create a chain reaction so that from the single tap, a large amount of surrounding circles will be expanded.
Does it shine?
For 10 or 15 minutes this game has a very instant appeal that’s hard to describe in text. You get stuck immediately and the search for the everlasting chain reaction is fascinating. So no doubt, the game is a brilliant idea carried out in a good manner.
If BoomShine has plenty of instant appeal, lasting appeal is another matter. The game offers 12 different levels, each one raising the challenge of course. Since the levels are pretty easy to finish, you will be done with them in no time. And then that’s it, except uploading your score to the leaderboard if you feel like it. A shame for such a nice game to be so short!
