Smart Educational Games 03Smart Educational Games is as the name implies educational software for the N97 and other S60v5 devices provided by Crazysoft. Is it still fun enough to qualify as a game?

Features

The game features different mini games within four different areas; math, memory, puzzle and earth (geography). Difficulty level can be set for all games, so they can be played both by kids and adults. The game can be played with or without sound and supports both portrait and landscape mode (though definitely best fitted for portrait mode).

Will it make me smarter then?

It might! All games are definitely playable, although there’s room for improvements. The difficulty settings are very well balanced, and really are a blessing since they make the game playable for all ages.

The memory game is the best one, and of course fairly easy to implement. I only wish a was a few years younger so I could get a better score!

The math games offer a nice setup where you shoot at the correct answer. Since the question appears way before the answer it doesn’t really have any flow, though, instead making it a somewhat frustrating experience.

The puzzle games offer a nice challenge, but since only one piece can be moved with one move, it’s a bit cumbersome. More free space and the ability to move several pieces at once both horizontally and vertically definitely would have made it more playable.

The earth games contains geography questions about cities and capitals. You can select which part of the world you want questions for. It’s nicely done but with one big flaw; you have to select the correct answer with a number. So if you’ve been asked the capitol for Norway, then Oslo might be answer number 23 and then you have to scroll to number 23 before submitting your answer! That’s just stupid!

All in all, I think it’s a game mostly aimed at kids, so it’s a shame the math games are not that well implemented. The flaws in the other games are stuff you can probably live with, although the answer selection mechanism in the earth games is really annoying. Price is $9.95 which considering the rich content is very reasonable. A free trial is also available.
