Nokia N97 App Review-Nokia Photo Browser
Nokia has released a new photo browser for S60 5th Edition phones like the N97, 5800 XpressMusic etc. The new photo browser replaces the current photo browser and makes the photo browsing experience quick and fun.
Here are the features at a glance
- Pleasing visual effects
- Intuitive touch UI
- Magnifying glass
- Face browsing
The UI is optimized for finger navigation and you can use a stylus if you wish to do so. The visual effects are stunning and include 3D effects, magnification, transitions, fish eye view/zoom etc. There is also the cool MagGlass effect that you should try out.
The 3D browsing is quite like the PicLens add-on in Mozilla Firefox. The screen orientation also adjusts automatically with the help of the built in accelerometer.
There is a face detection technology called “Finger Browsing” which allows you to directly zoom into the faces of people but clicking once on the zoom button.
Here is the only defect which I believe will be solved with future updates:
“Please allow a few seconds for each picture to generate a thumbnail for the first time. While the thumbnail is not ready, Photo Browser shows either gray box or low resolution image (looks blurry in the single image view). Once generated, the picture will load very quickly from the next time.”
The software is currently for S60 5th Edition Devices but it will soon be released for 3rd Edition devices also.
