Nokia N97: Hardware and Design
As I mentioned yesterday, I will start discussing the specifications of the new flagship from Nokia which has an official release date for the first quarter of 2009 (some people have been saying that we will see this phone on April or May).
This device comes with a 3.5″ 16:9 touchscreen similar to the one seen on the Nokia 5800, it also comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, front-facing camera owing to the 3G connectivity. A 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics takes high-quality pictures as well as DVD-quality video. Some features that are becoming really important nowadays: A-GPS chip and an electronic compass help the phone know its exact location which would help with social networking apps and location-based services.
Up to 48GB of storage: 32GB of internal memory and a MicroSD slot for cards with up to 16GB of storage. This memory capacity will allow end-users to keep lots of music, movies and videos, apps, photos, and everything important to keep their day-to-day activities even without the need of carrying a full-size laptop around. Since this is a multimedia computer, sound is really important and that’s why this phone comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can plug-in your favorite headphones.
Obviously, this handset needs a powerful battery, that’s why it comes with a 1500mAh battery (similar or the same used in the E71 and the E90). Its dimensions are 117 x 55 x 16 mm.
We will continue with the N97 specifications tomorrow.

does n97 contain tv ?
Hello Ali,
Thanks for visiting the Nokia N97 Blog. This phone does not have a TV receiver, however, there are a few applications that you could install to watch TV over 3G or WiFi.
Regards
Did you notice that Negrielectronics.com has the N97 on pre order and they
are
listing an eta of Feb 11, 2009. I thought the nN97 was not due out until May or June 2009?
Hello Sheley,
Thanks for pointing that out! February 11th seems to soon to me. However, it would be great to have this device in one and a half months from now.
Please keep visiting this blog for more news on the release date as well as reviews and applications for the N97.
Regards
Yeah, I think the Feb 2009 release date is too ambitious too. I’m obsesed
with smart phones and I even invested about $12000 in NOK stock!!!
Can’t wait to get the N97. I also visit symbianfreak.com to fish for more info on the N97 and other rumors regarding new devices by Nokia.
Merry Christmas!

Thanks Vinum,
It sounds too soon, but it would be fantastic to have this device in 10 days from now!
I was told by womworld that they don’t have it yet, we’re gonna have to wait, and please, keep us updated on any news.
I’m an avid Symbian-Freak reader BTW.

@ vinumsv
it appears your so called confirmed information is very much a fiction of your imagination, i hope this is just a one off and not a continued example of your ability to forsee a release date before it is officially announced
why or how you keep the moderator status on SF is beyond me, giving such false info like this
yeah,i like nokia mobile. i have n96 mobile phone. that nice
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know where the A-GPS chip is located on the N97? I currently have a Nokia N95 8GB and the A-GPS chip is located under the keypad and the keypad has to be slid open for the GPS to work, not very convenient when I’m walking or riding my bike to have to hold the phone open all the time.
I’m hoping that this is not the case with the N97, not really a deal breaker, I also have an N810, but it would be nice. Does anyone know?
Thanks,
GD
