Nokia N97 release date?

Hello readers! This could be breaking news or just false rumors for getting presales of this device. But as one of our readers pointed out (thanks Shelley) negrielectronics.com has started the presale of this device and as you can see in the picture, they claim that they will have the phone on February 11th, 2009. Which is only one and a half months from now!
Let’s not get carried away by this news since Nokia hasn’t announced yet the official release date for this phone. They just mentioned that it would be available during the first half of 2009 for 550 EUR or around US$695. Some sites are already pre-selling it for US$799. However, only time will tell about the official release date.

Well… that’s a little less than imposible, if you look at the deadline for the N97 widget competition….
The closing date for the competition is February 27, 2009. The winner will be announced on this site on March 13, 2009.
So…. if the winner will be awarded with a N97 before the public release date… or well… lets assume that it gets the first one and then they start selling…. the release date should be at least march 13 2009….
Do the math…..
Thanks for pointing that out Radiant, the most logic date would be around April, after giving the widget contest winner his or her N97.

coming out of CES 2009 in Las Vegas> Pharos 137 traveler sounds nice
with it’s 3.5″ WQVA screen but it won’t be compatible with AT & T’s 3G bands and it will only house a 3mp camera and it’s not that attractive. Let me know if Nokia anounces more phones or specifics regarding the N97.
Looks like the next expected release date is now end June ! Very frustrating !

Vodafone UK have just announced a release date for July 2009 on its site……. but apparently the Vodafone spokesperson refuses to confirm. Plot thickens!!!!!! Make of that what you will !!! Have registered for updates so will keep posted. Anyone else any news ??

cool site..i am very exited about the nokia N97…i will get it as soon as it arived in europe begin june i hope…i had a few nseries before…but i was never be so exited before…
i preordered this phone in about 3 weeks ago, then they called me to comfirm my order the next day, i asked how soon i will be having this phone in my hand, the representative told me they weren’t sure, but expect it in July. so some of the ppl say nokia was gonna announce the release date on the 2nd of June, now today is June 2nd, i should expect it at the end of this month or the begianing of July.

ok, nokia say my phone will be shipped out in the first week of july.
i just got my N97 this morning… then again, i pre-ordered it from Nokiausa.com. it might be released to the public in the following week/s.
