Tero Ojanpera announced the release of Nokia’s first device specific SDK (Software Development Kit) BETA for the Nokia N97. The SDK BETA allows developers to explore the new features and APIs offered by the Nokia N97. The developers can use the SDK to develop applications for the Nokia N97, Widgets for the homescreen etc.

The Nokia N97 Screen Emulator allows the developers to test their applications and widgets directly on a PC which emulates the UI (User Interface) of the Nokia N97. The developers can use Symbian C++, Open C++, Java Technology and Web Runtime to develop their applications and widgets for the Nokia N97.

There is a new additional feature supporting development of Python based programs using an SDK Plug-In. Once the applications are tested, verified and ready for production, the SDK allows you to package the different files etc into a single package.
