Ovi Maps supported on the N97
On the 21st of January, Nokia made a huge announcement about making drive by navigation free. A number of devices were supported. The N97mini was readily supported, but the N97 was not. This disappointed the users of N97 a lot. But Nokia promised a version for N97 within a week. True to it’s word, Nokia has today launched Ovi Maps with free drive navigation for the N97.

The OVI Maps is compatible with Nokia N97 phones running firmware version 2.0.x and if you don’t have it, you will have to update the firmware to get maximum benefit from the software. You can do so right here.
Note-The version 2.0.x hasn’t been released in all regions so some people might be left out but not for long since Nokia promises to bring it out very soon.
Ovi Maps brings about some significant extras to the navigation stream. Not only is turn by turn (driving) navigation free, you also get a lot of premium content. Weather, events, places to go, visit… it’s all there. Lonely Planet and Michelin will be providing this content. So I strongly urge you to update the Maps on you N97.

And yayyyyyy, this “Important” update, decided to install itself on my C: eating up 13MB and now I’m left with 2.4MB…
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!
I dont understand what people are going on about when they say it has just been released for the n97. When they first released the free ovi maps, I downloaded the one for the n97mini on my n97 and it worked perfectly fine
