Settings screenPulsar is a commercial theme for the N97 and other S60v5 devices provided by Pizero Symbian Design. It features a crisp purple, black and blue colour scheme. Is it worth paying for?

Description

Like many other themes, this one gets its name from space, namely the neutron stars called Pulsars. The theme does in fact resemble the existing pictures captured of Pulsars quite closely. The theme doesn’t feature specific icons and uses mainly black as the background colour for menus.

Is it radiating?

Well, luckily enough, no! It does look nice, though. It’s not very pleasant at first to switch back to the default N97 theme after using Pulsar for a while. The theme also gives an immediate feeling of quality that lasts. The only negatives are that the menus and some simpler screens (mainly the dial screen) looks a bit flat with too much black in them. Also, it’s nice that a demo version is available, but the demo texts are a bit cluttered which tends to take away some of the otherwise very elegant design. The buying price is 5 Euro which is probably a fair price compared to most of the competition, but still maybe a bit too much for a theme.

And it might be a matter of opinion, but if I had to choose I would probably go with the free Solstice theme, also from Pizero Symbian Design…

Summary

Cons

  • 5 Euros is a bit steep

  • Demo version a bit cluttered

Overall, I can definitely recommend it, but try before you buy! To find out more and to download, visit our forum:
